Chapter Events
CDT, CCS, CCCA, and CCPR Certification Exam Review classes are being held at Hallmark Building Supplies, 640 Taft St. NE, Minneapolis MN. The classes are held on four consecutive Tuesdays starting February 20, 2007 and ending on March 13, 2007 from 6 - 9pm each evening. Advanced Certification Exam review sessions schedule is TO BE ARRANGED once CCS/CCCA/CCPR registration is complete. Depending on the number of registrants, past sessions have been conducted on small group format with time and location arranged mutually among the final group of candidates and instructors. Registrants will be contacted after the February 13 registration deadline has passed with further information. Attendance at scheduled CDT review classes is optional but recommended for candidates in need of general exam information review. Refreshments provided. Institute Events
CSI Certification Program Exams, March 31, 2006. Location for Minneapolis-St. Paul CSI TBA.
The 51st Annual CSI Show & Convention, Baltimore, MD, June 20-22, in the Baltimore Convention Center. The Institute will present more than 120 education sessions covering the Building Information Model, sustainability, legal issues, and other information solutions for the built environment. Most sessions will qualify for continuing education credit.

Register for the 5th Annual International Greening Rooftops for Sustainable Communities Conference

Support the Lifecycle Building Challenge
The "Lifecycle Building Challenge" - co-sponsored by the Building Materials Reuse Association, the American Institute of Architects and West Coast Green - invites professionals and students nationwide to submit designs and ideas by May 15 that support cost-effective disassembly and anticipate the future use of building materials. Students, architects, reuse experts, engineers, builders, product designers, educators and environmental advocates are encouraged to apply for the web-based competition.

Minnesota Fire Safe Construction Advisory Council will be offering three opportunities to attend a wall construction cost comparison seminar. Two seminar opportunities are on March 13, 2007 at the International Market Square in Minneapolis and another opportunity is available on March 14, 2007 at the St. Cloud Holiday Inn & Suites. “Economic Evaluation of Balanced Building Design Techniques.” Dr. Walt Schneider, PhD, PE will present the advantages of balanced design for fire safe construction while making the cost competitive nature of this type of design approach known. Dr. Schneider will utilize the recent “Fire Safe Construction Cost Comparison Study” that was commissioned by the Minnesota Fire Safe Construction Advisory Council to focus on Minneapolis, MN. (The entire study, which includes data relevant to Framingham, MA, Harrisburg, PA and Towson, MD was originally undertaken by the Pennsylvania, New York/New England and Mid-Atlantic Fire Safe Construction Advisory Councils.) The study is intended to address the initial cost of construction for multi-residential structures using concrete-based products versus wood/gypsum and steel. The Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division will be hosting a discussion in Minneapolis/St. Paul on the topic of accessibility in the construction of multi-family housing. The program, which is free and includes breakfast, will be held from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. on May 22 at the Radisson Plaza Hotel, in Minneapolis. We are inviting building professionals, including architects and civil engineers, as well as developers, government officials, and advocates for individuals with disabilities.
The Twin Cities meeting is part of a nationwide “Multi-Family Housing Access Forum” that the Civil Rights Division launched in 2005.
