CSI and Hanley Wood Sign Agreement for CSI Show
Partnership Will Benefit the Construction Industry through Combined Resources
Alexandria, VA, April 11, 2007 - In a joint statement issued today, the 15,000-member Construction Specifications Institute (CSI), the national association dedicated to creating standards and formats to improve construction documents and project delivery, and Hanley Wood, the leading business-to-business media company in the residential and commercial construction industry, announced they are entering into a long-term partnership designed to grow both organizations and the construction industry they serve. Under the terms of the agreement, Hanley Wood will produce the annual CSI Show beginning with the 2008 event.
The agreement, signed April 9, 2007, fits the long-term strategic goals of both groups. Edd Soenke, FCSI, CCS, AIA, NCARB, CSI President, commented, “CSI’s leadership is extremely enthusiastic about the potential of this alliance we now have with Hanley Wood. This partnership can take the CSI Show to a whole new level.”
The CSI Show is the leading event dedicated to the specific needs of those who create construction standards and formats. The June 20-22, 2007 event in Baltimore, Maryland, will feature over 30 hours of education in 14 different tracks. Registration is expected to top 5,000 industry professionals from around the world. The trade show will exceed 70,000 net square feet of space occupied by more than 400 exhibiting firms.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with CSI,“ said Galen Poss, President of Hanley Wood Exhibitions. “CSI is a terrific organization and the CSI Show is an outstanding event we have pursued for several years. It further expands our position in the rapidly growing $473 billion commercial construction sector and provides a rock solid platform for future growth,” he shared.
“The partnership we now have with Hanley Wood opens numerous opportunities for both organizations. Hanley Wood specializes in developing and expanding large-scale trade events and conferences. We are confident they will grow the CSI Show into an even bigger and more important event that will attract new attendees and exhibitors from around the globe,” said Walter Marlowe, P.E., CSI, CAE
, CSI Executive Director. “Such growth will help CSI to expand its reach and serve its core mission to develop and exchange knowledge and be recognized worldwide as the indispensable resource for information on improving the construction process,” he continued.
Under the terms of the agreement, CSI will continue to designate the Chairman for each CSI Show, appoint delegates to serve on the CSI Show Advisory Board and sponsor the CSI Conference and Show. Hanley Wood will be responsible for event planning, promotion, sales, logistics and management.
“Hanley Wood has seen tremendous growth within its events division during the last seven years, growing from one to 17 shows, four of which are in the Trade Show Week Top 200. Each year more than 245,000 attendees visit 6,000 plus exhibitors in over 2.5 million net square feet of exhibits at Hanley Wood shows. This type of scope and size, when combined with the fact that six of the 17 shows have association partnerships similar in nature to CSI, creates tremendous excitement for the future and was critical in the Institute’s decision to enter into this partnership,” Marlowe commented.
