Description: Enrollment is limited. This workshop begins with inspiring examples of architectural stonework design, a background on sources and properties of natural stone, and in-shop demonstrations of custom limestone fabrication. Attendees will also have hands-on experience with chisel-on-stone, and more advanced shop techniques including special finishes and computerized cutting. Dean McFarlane, tenth generation master stone-carver, will present materials information and demonstrations, and lead tours through a local stone fabrication shop.

This workshop begins with a broad overview of glass, ranging from handcrafted one-off decorative art, through custom residential kitchens and baths, to the mass production of architectural coatings and glazing assemblies, and ultimately, the design of curtainwalls covering the tallest world-class buildings.
